The countertop process is almost complete. All that is left is the installation. Your fabricator will give you a date of installation and a time off arrival. You will need to be prepared before the installation team arrives. As I mentioned in a previous post, you should have scheduled any other trades to do all the disconnects of any plumbing, electrical or gas and reconnects after the countertops have been installed. All appliances and sinks will need to be on site in order for the installation team to make all the proper field cuts and or mount the sinks. If you elected to remove the existing countertops, these will need to be removed before the installers arrive as well. Installing new countertops is a construction process , and some noise and dust should be expected. Let the installers know the best route in and out of the house that best fits you and the installation team and have a clear path through this area for easy access. Remove all items from the cabinets in the installation area, move all breakable and valuable items like vases, lamps and mirrors in to a safe place. For safety, keep children and pets away from the construction area. It is a good thing to turn off any centralized AC units in the house, the installation process can be dusty. Opening a couple of windows in the work area is also recommended as the installers will be using recommended chemicals to adhere the countertops, set seams and clean the countertops. These chemicals have temporary odors but will subside as they dry.
The goal of the installation team is to be as efficient as possible, complete the job to the highest quality and the customer to feel comfortable as possible during this process. So if there are any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Once the installation is complete, the installation team will go over the details of the installation, give you the required warranty info and care and maintenance paperwork and get a sign off of completion. This is the time to walk the completed project and make sure it has been done to your satisfaction, make sure the team has cleaned up properly and ask any questions you may have remaining. The only thing left to do is to send out the Evite to all your friends and family for the long awaited dinner party to show off your new countertops! The countertop process from start to finish may seem long but the end result makes every minute of waiting worth it!
